It is located on the eastern flank of the Colombian Central Mountain Range, in the Potosí Alto village, in the municipality of Cajamarca, Tolima.
The Reserve is the habitat of 5 species of threatened parrots, including 3 endemic to Colombia: the Yellow-eared Parrot, the Fuertes’s Parrot, and the Rufous-fronted Parakeet. We also preserve the Golden-plumed Parakeet and Rusty-faced Parrot. Additionally, we find populations of large mammals such as the spectacled bear, the mountain tapir, and pumas.
Ideally, take a 4×4 vehicle from Cajamarca to the reserve, which is 37 km via the town of Anaime and takes 1.30 hours. The final 10 km are rough and require 4×4 in the wet season.
