It is located on Cerro La Paz, in the Eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia, in the municipalities of Betulia and San Vicente de Chucurí, Santander department; two hours from the city of Bucaramanga.
Among the most important birds in the Reserve are the Vulnerable Helmeted Curassow (Pauxi pauxi), the Critically Endangered Chestnut-bellied Hummingbird (Amazilia castaneiventris), the Yellow-eared Parrot (Pionopsitta pyrilia), the Endangered White-mantled Barbet (Capito hypoleucus), the Ashy-headed Antwren (Habia gutturalis), and the Cerulean Warbler (Setophaga cerulea), among others.
